The year has started with a bang! Our portfolio is up 5.14% so far and quality stocks are breaking out all around. I recommended crox ( Crocs Inc ) and Cprx (Catalyst Pharmaceuticals Inc) at the beginning of the month and they have both since bolted around 20%. Other quality growth stocks in my portfolio have seen similar breakout success, for example, Tex (Terex Corporation) and @ACLS.
Although, opportunities are aplenty the intelligent investor must stay nimble as the macroeconomic environment is still hostile to equities. Only the sentiment has changed. Furthermore, the SPX500 will face an important technical test this week. You can see in the above chart that the SPX500 has been respecting a descending channel throughout this bear market. A break above the upper channel line would be a significant development for the bulls.
On a side note, precious metals (gold and SILVER) are showing very attractive behaviour. gold was bought into my portfolio at the start of the year and is already showing 15-20% gains.
